This article investigates the role of urban agriculture (UA) in reconfiguring urban spaces and in producing more sustainable city. The survey was conducted in two urban gardens located in the city of São Paulo (Brazil). The results demonstrate that UA’s individual and collective practices promote a sustainable urban development by contributing to the reduction of social, economic and environmental inequalities.
