CIRC-KNOW addresses the need to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the fisheries sector by identifying, recovering, and adapting traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) for reintegration into artisanal fisheries, shellfishing, and aquaculture.
The project establishes participation channels for senior and retired professionals, ensuring their generational
knowledge—an underutilized and endangered resource—to transfer to younger professionals, including migrants. Using local networks (fishermen’s associations, FLAGs, etc), CIRC-KNOW strengthens community involvement passing down through generations circular economy principles in coastal areas, as well as cross-borders and cross-sectors.
Expected outputs include a Digital Knowledge Hub, a mentoring program, CE training initiatives, and a Practical Guide on TEK-based circular practices for fisheries professionals, thereby ensuring cultural heritage preservation and a more resilient blue economy for future generations long terms
