Technical, economic and managerial strengths of coworking spaces generally attract attention. However there is also a social embeddedness to take into consideration. Our analysis relates the creation and use of a coworking space to mobility from urban to more rural areas. It shows coworking spaces as places of the imbrication of professional activity and life plans. Part of coworking spaces are funded by people coming to live in the countryside: most of them are in need of a place to work. Three types of migrants are distinguished: some decided to move from cities for family reasons; others are attracted by nature; some come to live in an environment where they can more easily afford a place to stay. They use coworking spaces for similar motives as would be the case in cities, except that the need to counter isolation is bigger. In some cases, using coworking spaces is also related to professional reconversion.
