In rural areas of France, employers are facing new recruitment challenges attributed to the housing crisis. Faced with a standstill in housing construction in rural areas considered to have a less pressured housing market, local employers and local authorities are joining forces to create a makeshift housing scheme linking employment contracts and tenancy agreements for employees of local businesses. This paper examines the factors driving these initiatives, their implementation, and the consequences for the housing experiences of the employees provided with accommodation.
